Everything You Need to Know

We believe transparency builds trust. This page covers the rules of the road, the do's and don'ts, and our bigger dream — together.

Parking Terms & Conditions Share

Welcome, driver! Finding a parking spot shouldn't be stressful, and Hoop is here to make it as smooth as possible. But just like any shared community resource, a few ground rules help keep things fair, safe, and enjoyable for everyone involved. Please read through these carefully — they apply every time you book a spot through the app.

Important — Spot availability is not guaranteed. Hoop is a community-driven platform. While we work hard to list only verified and reliable spots, we cannot guarantee that a spot will be available at the exact time of your booking. Spot owners are independent members of our community, and real-world situations — such as unexpected access issues, owner emergencies, or technical delays — can occasionally affect availability. We strongly recommend having a backup plan for critical journeys.
Quick note: By booking a parking spot through Hoop, you agree to abide by these terms as well as any additional spot-specific rules set by the owner. Owner rules will always be visible on the spot's listing page.

1. Booking & Arrival

  • 1 Confirm before you drive. Once a booking is confirmed by the owner, you'll receive a confirmation in the app. Please do not arrive at a spot without a confirmed booking — the owner has full discretion over who uses their space.
  • 2 Arrive on time. If your booking has a specific start time, please respect it. Arriving more than 15 minutes early may inconvenience the owner. If you're running late, reach out to the owner via the in-app chat as soon as possible.
  • 3 Your booking is non-transferable. The parking spot is reserved exclusively for you and the vehicle registered under your booking. You may not allow another vehicle to use your reserved spot.
  • 4 Vehicle compatibility is your responsibility. Make sure your vehicle fits the spot. Spot dimensions, vehicle type restrictions (e.g., no trucks, no oversized vehicles), and accessibility details are listed on each spot page — always double-check before booking.

2. Duration & Overstaying

  • 1 Vacate on time. Your booking is valid for the duration you selected. Overstaying your booking time is not allowed and may affect your community rating. If you need to extend, use the app to request more time from the owner before your booking expires.
  • 2 Overstay charges may apply. Owners reserve the right to report overstays. Repeated overstaying can lead to suspension of your Hoop account.
  • 3 No camping. Spots on Hoop are for temporary parking only — not overnight sleeping, vehicle storage, or using the spot as a base for commercial activity.

3. Payment

  • 1 Agree on the price upfront. All pricing is negotiated directly between drivers and owners within the Hoop app. The agreed amount must be confirmed before your booking is active.
  • 2 No off-platform payments. For your own security, all payments should go through Hoop's agreed-upon mechanism. Off-platform payments remove our ability to mediate disputes or refunds.
  • 3 Cancellations. If you need to cancel, please do so through the app as early as possible. The owner's cancellation policy (if any) will be shown on the listing. Last-minute cancellations may impact your community rating.

4. Behaviour & Respect

  • 1 Treat the space with care. Park neatly and within the boundaries of the reserved spot. Avoid damaging the owner's property or surrounding areas.
  • 2 No leaks, no messes. If your vehicle is leaking fluids or likely to cause damage, please do not book a spot. You are liable for any damage caused by your vehicle.
  • 3 Be respectful. All communication with owners should be courteous. Harassment, threatening language, or hostile behaviour is grounds for immediate account suspension.

5. Spot Availability & Disputes

Hoop is a community platform — we connect drivers with real people who are sharing their own spaces. We genuinely try our best to list only verified, trustworthy spots, but we want to be honest: we cannot guarantee that every listed spot will be available at your booking time. Owners are independent community members and unforeseen circumstances do happen.

If a spot isn't accessible when you arrive, the owner is unresponsive, or anything doesn't match the listing, please report it in the app immediately. Our support team will review every case fairly and promptly. You can also reach us directly at [email protected].

  • 1 Verified spots, not guaranteed spots. The "verified" label on a listing means we have reviewed the spot and it met our listing standards at the time of verification. It does not mean real-time availability is guaranteed on every booking.
  • 2 Community trust, not a service contract. Hoop operates on community trust. Owners are responsible for keeping their listings accurate and honouring bookings. If an owner repeatedly fails to do so, they will be removed from the platform.
  • 3 Have a backup plan. For important trips — such as airport drop-offs, medical appointments, or time-sensitive events — we recommend having an alternative parking option in mind, just in case.
Hoop's liability is limited. Hoop is a marketplace platform that connects drivers and owners. While we verify listings and community members to the best of our ability, Hoop Inc. is not liable for spot unavailability, physical damage, theft, or loss that occurs at a booked parking location. We strongly encourage you to photograph your vehicle before and after every parking session.

Terms & Conditions for Renting Your Space Share

So you've got some unused space and you'd love to earn a little from it — that's what Hoop is all about! Whether it's your driveway, a garage bay, or a private lot, listing on Hoop puts your space to work. Before you go live, here's everything you need to know as a spot owner.

Good news: Listing your spot is completely free. You set the price, the availability, and the rules — Hoop just connects you with drivers who need exactly what you've got.

1. Listing Your Spot

  • 1 Be honest and accurate. Your listing must truthfully represent the space. This includes dimensions, accessibility, surface type (concrete, gravel, etc.), covered vs. uncovered, and any restrictions (no trucks, no EV charging, etc.).
  • 2 Only list spaces you have the right to rent. You must own, lease, or have explicit permission to sublet the parking space you're listing. Listing a spot you don't have authority over is a violation of these terms.
  • 3 Photos make a difference. Upload clear, recent photos of your spot. Drivers book with more confidence when they can see exactly what they're getting. Misleading photos are grounds for listing removal.
  • 4 Keep your availability up to date. Mark your spot unavailable when it's not accessible. Accepting bookings you can't honour damages your reputation and frustrates drivers.
  • 5 Spot address accuracy. The address and pin location on the map must be exact. Drivers navigate to your spot using Hoop — even small inaccuracies cause real frustration.

2. Accepting & Managing Bookings

  • 1 Respond promptly. When a driver sends a booking request, try to respond within a reasonable timeframe. Slow response times affect your owner rating and can result in missed bookings.
  • 2 Verify the driver before granting access — this is required. Before allowing any vehicle into your space, you must check the driver's details against their confirmed booking in the Hoop app. Confirm their name and profile photo match the person in front of you, and that their booking is valid for that time slot. Do not allow access to anyone who cannot produce a confirmed Hoop booking. This is a community safety requirement, not optional.
  • 3 Check the vehicle matches the booking. The driver's booking will include their vehicle details. Ensure the car entering your space matches — make, colour, and licence plate. If anything looks off, do not grant access and report it through the app immediately.
  • 4 Honour confirmed bookings. Once you confirm a booking, the driver is counting on that space being available. Cancelling confirmed bookings — especially at the last minute — is strongly discouraged and will negatively impact your rating.
  • 5 Set clear rules for your spot. You're welcome to set specific rules — maximum vehicle height, no loud music, no leaving the car running, etc. State them clearly in your listing so drivers know before they book.
  • 6 Do not double-book. Booking the same time slot to multiple drivers simultaneously is prohibited and will result in account suspension.
Identity check is your responsibility. Hoop gives you the driver's name, profile photo, and booking details — but the physical verification before granting access is yours to carry out. If you allow a vehicle in without confirming the booking, Hoop cannot be held liable for any resulting issues. Think of it like checking an ID at the door — a quick look goes a long way in keeping our community safe.

3. Pricing

  • 1 You set the price. Hoop gives you complete control over how much you charge. Set a fair market price that reflects the value of your spot's location, size, and amenities.
  • 2 Pricing must be agreed upon before confirmation. Any changes to price must be communicated and agreed upon with the driver before confirming the booking. You cannot change the price mid-booking.
  • 3 No hidden fees. All charges must be transparent and listed upfront. Surprising a driver with extra costs after the fact is a violation of these terms.

4. Safety & Legal Responsibilities

  • 1 Ensure your space is safe. Your parking spot must be safe and accessible for drivers. If your space has known hazards — low clearance, unstable surface, narrow entry — these must be disclosed clearly in the listing.
  • 2 Check local regulations. It is your responsibility to ensure that renting out your parking space is permitted under local laws, homeowners association (HOA) rules, lease agreements, and any other applicable regulations in your area.
  • 3 Taxes are your responsibility. Any income earned from renting your parking space may be subject to local income or rental taxes. Hoop does not provide tax advice — please consult a tax professional if you're unsure.
  • 4 Hoop is a platform, not a liability provider. While we work hard to verify users, Hoop is not liable for damage caused by drivers to your property. We recommend documenting your space with photos before and after each booking for your own records.

5. Account Conduct

Owners are expected to maintain a respectful and professional demeanor with drivers at all times. Any form of discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, or any other protected characteristic is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate account termination. Hoop is a community, and we expect every member to treat others the way they'd want to be treated.

Remember: Your community rating as an owner is visible to all drivers. A high rating means more bookings, better relationships, and a spot in Hoop's community spotlight. We celebrate great owners!

Good Practices Share

Beyond the rules, there's a whole layer of habits that separate a good Hoop experience from a great one. These aren't strict requirements — they're genuine suggestions from our community, built up from thousands of successful bookings. We hope they help!

For Drivers

Do's

  • Book ahead of time when possible — don't leave it to the last minute.
  • Read the spot listing carefully before booking, including all owner rules.
  • Take photos of your car's condition before and after parking.
  • Contact the owner if you're running late or need to extend your stay.
  • Leave the spot exactly as you found it — clean and tidy.
  • Leave an honest review after your booking — it helps the whole community.
  • Save your favourite spots for quicker future bookings.
  • Use in-app navigation to find the spot accurately.

Don'ts

  • Don't arrive at a spot without a confirmed booking.
  • Don't allow others to use your reserved spot.
  • Don't overstay your booking window without prior approval.
  • Don't leave trash or debris in or around the spot.
  • Don't make payments outside of the agreed Hoop process.
  • Don't ignore the owner's specific parking instructions.
  • Don't book a spot if your vehicle doesn't meet the size requirements.
  • Don't leave your car running unnecessarily in an enclosed space.

For Owners

Do's

  • Keep your listing photos fresh and up to date.
  • Clearly mark your spot with visible signage if needed.
  • Respond to booking requests promptly and kindly.
  • Keep your availability calendar accurate.
  • Provide helpful notes (e.g., "Green gate on the left", "Ring bell on arrival").
  • Greet first-time drivers with a short welcome message.
  • Leave reviews for drivers — it helps build a trustworthy community.
  • Keep the spot area clean, well-lit, and safe to use.

Don'ts

  • Don't list a space you don't have the right to rent.
  • Don't cancel confirmed bookings unless absolutely necessary.
  • Don't use misleading or outdated photos.
  • Don't surprise drivers with rules that weren't in the listing.
  • Don't change the agreed price after a booking is confirmed.
  • Don't ignore messages from drivers — even a quick reply goes a long way.
  • Don't leave your spot blocked when it's shown as available.
  • Don't retaliate against drivers with negative reviews unfairly.

Communication Tips — For Everyone

Great communication is the backbone of a great Hoop experience. Here are a few tips regardless of which side of the booking you're on:

  • Be clear, not curt. A friendly, descriptive message goes a much longer way than a one-word reply. Both drivers and owners appreciate a little warmth.
  • Ask before assuming. If something in the listing or booking is unclear, just ask! It's far better to clarify upfront than to arrive with the wrong expectations.
  • Keep it on the app. Use Hoop's built-in chat for all communication. It keeps a record for both parties and allows our team to step in if a dispute arises.
  • Write thoughtful reviews. Reviews aren't just ratings — they're stories. Tell future drivers or owners what made your experience great (or not), and help others make better decisions.
Pro tip: The most-booked spots on Hoop aren't always the cheapest ones — they're the ones with great photos, clear descriptions, prompt owners, and kind reviews. Invest a little time in your listing or your reputation, and it pays off!

Our Motto & Mission Share

"Every unused parking space is an opportunity — and every driver looking for one is a neighbour in need. Hoop exists to bring them together."

At Hoop, we believe that the future of urban mobility isn't just about smarter roads or faster cars — it's about smarter communities. We're building a world where no one circles a block in frustration, and no driveway sits empty while someone parks three streets away.

Why Community Comes First

Hoop started with a simple observation: parking is a shared problem. Cities are dense, spots are scarce, and most private spaces sit unused for the majority of the day. Meanwhile, drivers waste time, fuel, and sanity searching for a place to park. The solution isn't more concrete — it's more connection.

That's why Hoop isn't just an app. It's a community. Every driver who books a spot, and every owner who lists one, is a member of something bigger — a movement towards a more connected, more efficient, and more human way of living in cities together.

Spots across multiple cities
Thousands of successful bookings
A growing, trusted community
Less fuel wasted searching

What "Largest Parking Community" Means to Us

When we talk about building the largest parking community, we don't just mean having the most listings or the most downloads. We mean building something that people genuinely trust — a community where drivers feel safe, owners feel respected, and everyone feels like they're part of something meaningful.

We want Hoop to be the first thing that comes to mind when you need a spot — and the first thing you think of when you have a spot to share. We want to be a verb. "Just Hoop it."

Our Core Values

  • Community over competition. We're not about racing to the top — we're about lifting everyone up. More spot owners and more drivers means more value for everyone.
  • Transparency always. No hidden fees, no shady data practices, no smoke and mirrors. What you see is what you get — on the app and in how we operate as a company.
  • Kindness scales. We genuinely believe that small acts of consideration — a prompt reply, a clean spot, a thoughtful review — compound into something extraordinary across thousands of users.
  • Everyone deserves a spot. Hoop is for everyone — regardless of the car you drive, the neighbourhood you live in, or the size of your wallet. Accessibility and inclusivity are non-negotiable.
  • Cities are meant to be lived in, not driven around. Every successful Hoop booking means fewer cars circling blocks, less fuel burned, and a little less stress in someone's day. That matters.

How You're Part of It

Every single person who downloads Hoop, lists a spot, or books one is a co-founder of this community in the most real sense. You're not just a user — you're shaping what Hoop becomes. The features we build, the cities we expand to, the policies we refine — all of it is driven by the feedback and behaviour of our community members.

So if you have an idea, a complaint, a feature request, or just want to say hi — please reach out. We read every message. We mean that.

Join the movement: Share Hoop with a friend who's always complaining about parking. Or with a neighbour who never uses their driveway. One referral at a time, we're building something that changes how cities feel. And we couldn't do it without you. 🧡

Privacy Policy Share

Your privacy isn't a checkbox to us — it's a core part of how we built Hoop. We know handing over personal information to an app requires trust, and we take that seriously. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and how it's used. No jargon, no surprises.

tl;dr: We collect only what we need to run the app. We don't sell your data. We don't use it for ads. We don't share it with anyone outside Hoop Inc. That's it.

1. What Data We Collect

We collect the minimum amount of information needed to make Hoop work well for you. Here's exactly what that includes:

  • 1 Name. Your full name is displayed in the app so that drivers and owners can identify each other when a booking is made. It helps build trust between strangers sharing a space.
  • 2 Email address. Used by Hoop to contact you when necessary — such as to inform you about important app updates, Terms & Conditions changes, Privacy Policy changes, or support follow-ups. We do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent.
  • 3 Phone number. Shared between drivers and owners once a booking is confirmed, so they can reach each other easily. Your phone number is not visible to anyone else on the platform.
  • 4 Physical address (Owners only). When you create a parking spot listing, the address of your spot is stored and displayed to drivers searching for parking nearby. This is essential for the core functionality of the app.
  • 5 Location (while using the app). We access your device's location to help you find parking spots near your destination, and to assist owners in pinning the exact location of their spot when creating a listing. Location is only accessed while the app is actively in use.
  • 6 Photos (Owners only). Owners may upload photos of their parking spot. These images are stored securely and displayed on the spot's listing page so drivers can see what they're booking.
  • 7 Booking & transaction history. We retain a record of bookings made through the app. This helps with dispute resolution, support, and ensuring the accuracy of reviews and ratings.
  • 8 Device & usage information. We collect basic technical data such as device type, operating system version, and app version. This helps us fix bugs, optimise performance, and ensure the app works correctly across different devices. We do not track individual browsing behaviour or build advertising profiles.

2. Why We Collect It — Purpose of Use

Every piece of data we collect has a specific and legitimate reason. Here's the purpose behind each:

  • To power core app features — search, booking, spot listing, navigation, and in-app communication all depend on the data you provide.
  • To connect drivers and owners — sharing your name and phone number with the other party in a confirmed booking is fundamental to how Hoop works.
  • To keep you informed — we may use your email to communicate important updates about the app, your account, or changes to our terms and policies.
  • To resolve disputes — booking records and communication logs may be reviewed by our team when a dispute or support case is raised.
  • To improve the app — anonymised usage data helps us understand which features are working well and which need attention.
  • To maintain safety and security — we use account and usage data to detect suspicious activity, prevent fraud, and protect our community.

3. Who Can See Your Data

We are very deliberate about who has access to your information. Here's the breakdown:

  • A The other party in a confirmed booking — when a booking is confirmed, your name and phone number are shared with the driver (if you're an owner) or the owner (if you're a driver). This is limited to confirmed bookings only.
  • B Hoop Inc. team members — authorised individuals within Hoop Inc. may access your data strictly for the purposes of support, dispute resolution, and app operations. Access is limited and logged.
  • C No third parties, ever — we do not sell, rent, license, or trade your personal information with any third-party companies, advertisers, data brokers, or analytics platforms. Full stop.
  • D Legal obligations — in the rare event that we are legally required to disclose data (e.g., by court order), we will comply with applicable law and will notify you where permitted.
Spot addresses are public-facing. When an owner creates a parking spot listing, the address and map pin are visible to all drivers searching in that area. If you are an owner, please ensure you are comfortable with your spot's location being discoverable within the app before listing it.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard practices. Here's what that means in plain English:

  • 1 Encryption in transit. All data transmitted between the Hoop app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS protocols. Your data is never sent over an unencrypted connection.
  • 2 Secure storage. Your data is stored on secure servers with access controls, authentication, and monitoring in place. We use trusted cloud infrastructure providers.
  • 3 Access control. Internal access to user data is strictly limited, role-based, and audited. Not everyone at Hoop can see your data — only those who genuinely need to.
  • 4 Breach notification. In the unlikely event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law, and as quickly as we reasonably can.

5. Data Retention

We don't hold onto your data longer than necessary. Here's our general retention approach:

  • 1 Active accounts. Data is retained for as long as your account is active and you are using the Hoop app.
  • 2 Account deletion. If you delete your Hoop account, we will remove your personal data from our active systems within a reasonable timeframe. Some anonymised or aggregated data (e.g., booking counts) may be retained for analytical purposes but cannot be used to identify you.
  • 3 Dispute & legal holds. In cases where data is needed to resolve an ongoing dispute or meet a legal obligation, we may retain relevant records beyond the standard period, after which it will be deleted.

6. Your Rights

You have real rights over your data, and we respect them. Depending on where you live, these may include:

  • Right to access. You can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you at any time.
  • Right to correction. If any of your data is inaccurate or out of date, you can update it directly in the app or ask us to correct it.
  • Right to deletion. You can request deletion of your account and personal data. We'll honour this promptly, subject to any legal hold requirements.
  • Right to object. You can object to certain types of processing of your data. If you have concerns, contact us and we'll address them.
  • Right to portability. You can request your data in a structured, machine-readable format so you can take it elsewhere if you choose.

To exercise any of these rights, simply email us at [email protected] and we'll get back to you.

7. Children's Privacy

Hoop is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has created an account on Hoop, please contact us immediately.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the app evolves or as legal requirements change. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date below and notify users via in-app notification or email for material changes. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
